This site is intended to explore the relationship between religion and the environment, between creator and creation. This area of religious study is perhaps esoteric in nature, but is applicable to all people, even for those who are not religious. It's scope is primarily academic, and not devotional, and is intended to serve as an introduction to the study of religion and its environmental implications. Humans have undeniably and boldly placed themselves and all other life in ecological crisis. We have not only failed to preserve the diversity of species that inhabit the earth, but we have failed to recognize the value of diversity that is implied in biology as being inherently valuable within our own species. We have created ghettos with our "isms" and placed a value of intolerance among relgions, genders, races, economic and social classes, and ual orientation. Our world has become a place where a zone of land which teems with wildlide, diverse plant populations, and intricate ecological systems is deemed "undeveloped." However, this process took approximately 3500 million years to achieve! Human development quickly annihilates this evolution in hardly a fraction of the time it took to create it. I suggest that if we look to our religions to establish a system through which we define our moral praxis, our spiritual identities, we must also redefine our purpose as humans on earth. Saint Thomas Aquinas said, "any error about creation leads to an error about God." Though life has existed on earth for 3500 million years before modern humans, we have crowned ourselves the pinacles of creation. But we are one species among millions on a planet which is one of nine that orbits only a medium sized star in a four and a half billion year old solar system among half a billion stars in a galaxy that is one in one hundred billion galaxies in a universe that is infinite.
