Bioingegneria The target of this work was the study of the fetoplacental circulation through a new model, for the first time able to analyze both physiological and pathological cases. The model can be applied to modern systems of clinical analysis, to early detect some pathologies of the pregnancy. This study was supported by the development of perfusion techniques (with blood and with formaldehyde) that allowed the verification of the hypothesis introduced into the model. The first part of this site describes the placental physiology, some pathological conditions, the diagnostic instruments. The second part takes in examination the perfusion systems and methods used in our experimentation over 61 placentas. The third part is devoted to the analysis of our model.
